Baby-Led Weaning: Easy Meals and Snacks for Busy Parents

I’m lucky enough to meet so many wonderful families here in Milton Keynes, and one thing that always sparks conversation is the adventure of baby-led weaning. Even though my kids are older now, I still remember the weaning stage like it was yesterday: the mess, the giggles, and the moment they discover a new food they love. It’s such a fun and sometimes chaotic phase.

I’ve spoken to countless parents during photo sessions about how to make baby-led weaning (BLW) go more smoothly for busy families. I get it—life gets hectic, and you need easy, healthy meals and snacks that won’t always take hours to prepare. So, I’ve pulled together a few BLW-friendly recipes that are simple, nutritious, and perfect for little hands.

Spinach and Cheese Muffins

These were fab when my two boys were younger! Spinach and cheese muffins are packed with goodness and super easy to whip up. They’re soft enough for tiny gums, and the spinach sneaks in some green. Make a big batch, freeze them, and you’ve got breakfast or snacks ready to go for those busier days!

Pear and Oat Slices

These pear and oat slices are naturally sweetened with ripe pears, healthy, and perfect for little hands to grab. Bake these on a Sunday, and you’ll have a stash of snacks ready for the week. They’re also great for packing in your own bag when you need a quick bite during a family outing.

Mini Veggie Quesadillas

I used to love getting creative with lunches, and these mini veggie quesadillas were always a hit. Stuff a soft tortilla with vegetables and sprinkle some cheese on top. Toast and cut into manageable pieces, and watch your little one dive in. The best part about these is that you can use whatever veggies you have in the fridge, and they’ll still taste great!

Make Baby-Led Weaning Stress-Free

BLW doesn’t have to be complicated, and trust me, you’re not alone in figuring it all out. These three recipes are not only easy to make, but they also create those special mealtime memories that you’ll cherish forever—yes, even the messy ones.
